Sick, police, boots

Stuck home sick again.

Think I’m starting to get cabin fever. Not up to doing very much, but sick of doing nothing. Wish I was back at work today. It’s nice and sunny, and in about an hours time my Friday afternoon shift would have started, and I like that shift. There’s nothing wrong with liking ones job is there?

As for the day, I wandered in the kitchen, looking for something to eat which fitted the doc’s advise of what to eat for the next few days, looked out the window, and there were police everywhere. Even some walking around with big ass guns.

They seemed to have been concentrating on a house a few doors down the next street. They are mostly gone now, just one undercover car still parked there.

As for what I’ve been doing to amuse myself, well not much as I don’t feel great, but I did decide to nugget my boots. I like my boots, i think I spent more on then than any other single piece of clothing or foot ware I own, so I’m going to look after them. Soon I guess I have to go back and polish them, but that seems like more hard work in my condition.

Medicine

This was going to be a sad post, as when I woke up this morning at about 5.50, I had a real banging headache. But I took my medicine, lots of it. Now one and a half hours latter I’m not feeling to bad. Still a little under the weather, but I think I’ll make it through my shift until seven pm tonight without to much trouble.

Now all the medicine I took this morning reminds me strangely enough of Kenny Rogers.

A few years back now, there was a Kenny Rogers concert in Christchurch. Now I had to go to this, I did, and I really enjoyed it. It was a shame the double header, Glenn Campbell couldn’t make it, but it sounds like his touring days are over.

Before I went, I packed my medicine. At the time I was suffering migraines, and also suffering depression. So I had a lot of pills to take. At home they were all in their set place, so every morning and every evening I went and took them. They were all lined up and I knew how many of each. So for a two day trip, I take three days worth, and everything is great…in theory.

We’ll get their, and the first evening I open up my bag and take out all my pills, and realise, there are pills everywhere and I have no idea what I’m supposed to be taking when. At home I just had a routine and a order, but here I was buggered.

We’ll I probably got them right, still here after all, and I only had three days worth, so I couldn’t do myself to much damage.

Either way, as soon as I got home I started searching the App Store (iPhone), for medicine software. We’ll I tried about four before I found the one I use now (RXminder). It’s great, and now even when I have complex requirements, it’s easy. Alarms, reminders, notes, a log, everything I need.

As for the concert, it was fantastic, and now I’m having happy thoughts, the pain is gone, so I’m happy

Saturday

I believe I can mark today as all three, happy, sad, and lazy.

I’m happy because the weather was pretty good, though over windy. I’m working on moving my old desktop into the lounge and connecting it to the media centre. It used to get more use, but now with the laptops, tablet and phones, it’s just not getting the usage it used to get, so it’s being re-tasked.

There is a game I have been playing on my laptop, SimCity. The laptop is under the required specs, so while it’s fun (so says 300+ hours of gameplay), it is a little slow and painful, and the visuals have to be turned right down.

While the desktop is old, it has good specs, and I built it when I was doing 3D, so it needed a bit of power for rendering. So I believe it should give a better performance.

I’m sad, as I’m still sick. Not feeling as bad as Wednesday night, or Thursday and Friday, but I still feel like crap. I’m also sad as I’ve gone and burnt the roof of my mouth real bad again, once again eating pizza my wife cooked for me.

Finally, I’m lazy, as before I install a windows boot on my desktop, which is, and will continue, running Linux, I have a friend over who has spent most of the afternoon updating it for me. Thanks dude.

Nurofen and water

Hasn’t been a good day for a couple f days now. Wednesday evening I started feeling pretty bad. By about 10.30pm I decided that the next day just wasn’t going to work, so I called the after hours number to call in sick for the next morning.

I hate ringing late, but when you start early in the AM, you want to give them as much time as possible to cover your shift.

Well Thursday was pretty unpleasant, but slowly getting better.

Now it’s Friday, and I’m at work.

Still in pain, feeling like crud, but I can keep good focus, so I’ll keep working. If it gets worst, or if I believe I am starting to lose focus, I’ll call it in and go home, but right now I’m feeling terrible but good enough. I’m just running on Nurofen and water for a while.

Movie night

Yesterday ran a little longer than it was supposed to. Originally I was rostered for 7hrs11minutes of work, but, with a few extensions, I clocked in over nine hours before I made it back home.

Luckily that didn’t manage to get in the way of our planned evening. The plan was an hour or so at the pool, then watch a movie with my wife and a friend.

We watched The Hangover 3. Not the newest anymore, but I hadn’t watched it yet.

My Wife and I, in the past, went to the movies every week, sometimes more than once. We had a card with Hoyts, so we could get two tickets for the price of one.

Add money for popcorn, ice creams, and drinks; and the theatre weren’t doing to bad from us.

But the card ran out after a year or so, so as well as having to buy two tickets, the prices just kept going up and up.

Now I’d be surprised if we went to two movies a year. Instead I wait until they come out on Blu-Ray and then purchase them there, maybe waiting a little for the price to come down.

The theatre loses out, but with their prices, they kind of brought it on themselves.

Either way, last night we watch Hangover 3, and I enjoyed it. Had to go to bed pretty shortly afterwards for an early start, but still a good evening.

Only problem I had was looking through my movie collection, I own one and three, but couldn’t find Hangover 2. Guess I’ll have to look it up sometime when I’m shopping.

A weekend in the future

This weekend we got back into a game we hadn’t played to recently, Sim City.

When it first came out, we put some serious hours into it, but not so much recently.

We’ll on Thursday, we loaded it up, and we purchased the Mega-City’s expansion. It cost us $80 ($40 each), a bit for an expansion, but it is a pretty big one.

It brings a lot of futuristic technology with it, from mag-rails to huge fancy hi-tech ‘mega’ towers.

We had a lot of fun, probably getting in 20-30 hours over the course of the weekend (yes, just two days).

I think I’ve now clocked up over 300 hours in Sim City. Can’t remember off hand, but if I remember to, when I next check, I will post a comment to this post.

When it rains, it pours

Ok, so that’s a saying, and not really what this post is about. Though just to let you know it is raining out there as I type, which sucks for tourism, as we have a cruise ship visiting the city today.

What this post is about is pain. I’m in pain, any it’s really bugging me. Driving causes stress on certain joints, and right now my wrist (right) is really hurting. The more annoying part of it is that I’ve forgotten to bring any painkillers with me, so,I just have to put up,with it.

This is largely my fault, due to being lazy. I don’t exercise much. I go to the pool twice a week, sometimes more for some aqua-jogging, but not much else. I need to do so e exercise to increase my wrist and arm strength as we’ll.

I had a little thing that you squeeze with your hands, but I used it so infrequently, that I lost it when I moved house, so now I don’t have it, and have to put up with sore wrists.

Will have to get back to it I guess, as pain sucks, but I’m lazy 🙁

Problems with food

This is my first post which is both happy and sad.

Last night, my wonderful wife made me pizza for dinner. It was fantastic, and I even had a few pieces leftover for breakfast, so that was great, very happy.

Now the sad part, stupid rodent (me) didn’t wait long enough for my pizza to cool down, and ate it to fast, so I have gone and burned the roof of my mouth as you do (can’t just be me) so there is a sad element as well, as here I sit at a bus stop, updating my blog with a sore mouth 🙁
